This is a screenshot of the network I am going to setup using
Type of network
In my opinion it would be the best to setup a Lan Area Network to setup because it’s ideal for
an office network as it’s localized for this area only and are much more smaller, as this office
is only based on 3 floors. Furthermore a LAN network is a robust, stable and can provide
connectivity 24/7 as long as the other devices are turned on. For the business this will be
easy to setup and many of these devices just require a simple connection and being setup
towards the router.
Topology
Topology is very important for this network and in this case I would use a Star topology. Star
topology is ideal as all the computers connect to the switches on each of the two floors and
further on the third floor the devices would be connected to the wireless access point. The
main central router will act as the centralised server allowing incoming and outgoing data so
this would basically result in the Star topology as every device is connected towards a switch
and the switches are connected towards the router. For the business this type of topology is
ideal as there a very few devices connected between the device and central hub meaning
there will be full performance and bandwidth, especially for this business as they might need
to store information in the central file server so good upload speeds will be required.
Now for the business it is ideal that all the data is going through one centralised location so
they can put further security measurements in place such as proxies and firewalls. It also
means the network is easier to monitor and if any problems do occur they can see where the
problem is directly coming from and is usually easy to figure out and fix.
For this business as they are expanding all the time they will need new workstations,
laptops, printers and other devices connected. The star topology will allow for the expansion
easily without affecting any of the other devices. A simple cat5 cable can be connected to
