Midgut:

Week 5 midgut elongates to form primary intestinal loop. During week 6-9
midgut elongation & growth of liver forces loop to herniate into umbilicus.




Loop rotates 90° anticlockwise. Week 10-11 midget returns to abdominal cavity
rotating another 180° anticlockwise. Ascending and descending colon become
retroperitoneal (secondary retroperitoneal).
