selected workplace.
1.0 Introduction
I’m a freelance Health and Safety consultant who gives advice and guidance to clients to
ensure that they meet Health and Safety laws and standards in the workplace. I give impartial
advice, up to date information on Health and Safety legislation I can carry out actual
inspections for the organisations, also I’m taking note to warn about the consequences of not
meeting the legal Health and Safety requirements.
My new client is Durlem College, who needs to improve and tighten up their Health and
Safety practices after a recent inspection by the local Health and Safety officer.
Following my report, a meeting has been arranged for me with the Principal and discuss if the
roles and responsibilities I have witnessed allow business to meet health and safety
legislations.
1.5 Terms of Reference
In this report, I’m to produce appropriate materials to assist me with my explanations during
the meeting. I will analyse the roles and responsibilities of the college, this will include the
internal and external workforce.
I will use the Internet, Moodle and my Business Textbook to collect information for this
report.

Roles and Responsibilities
Within some organisation there are a certain health and safety roles appointed to some or all
members of staff. (Internal Roles)
Also there are independent some emergency service, which can be called in case of
emergency (External Roles)

implementation of the integral part of all strategic decision making and

planning to meet the requirements of the college’s
Health and Safety Policy. Holding the Health and
Safety Committee meetings, ensuring that there is a
Duty Officer on duty during normal College hours
and outside of normal hours ensuring that a risk
assessment and procedures are in place – are his
responsibilities as well.
Assistant Principal Responsible for Assistant principal curriculum and workplace
Curriculum & ensuring that Health development is ensuring that every employee is fully
Workplace and Safety training is aware of their duties under Health and Safety
Development carried out legislations and the college’s Health and Safety
appropriately. policy, ensure that all employees are provided with
adequate information, instruction, training and
supervision in relation to health and safety and their

themselves that corrective action is taken.
