Unit 21 – Business Law
On completion of this unit I should:
1) Understand the legal requirements for a valid contract
2) Understand the meaning and effect of terms in a standard form contract
3) Understand the impact of statutory consumer protection on the parties to a contract
4) Know the remedies available to the parties to a contract
Task 1:
a) Describe what a contract is and the different situations that they are used and required
b) Describe how a contract comes into existence
c) Describe the difference between an invitation to treat and an offer;
d) Describe how an offer is made;
e) Describe what a counter-offer is and give an example
f) Describe how acceptance of an offer is made
g) Describe what is meant by consideration in a contract;
h) Describe what is meant by capacity in a contract
i) Describe any legal cases that you think are relevant and useful to help explain the
above points
In order to complete this unit I should create a booklet for ‘Ebash Neft’ company that
describes the legal criteria for offer and acceptance in a valid contract and explain the law in
relation to the formation of the contract.
