Supreme court, no win
1909 NAACP born:
● Lawyers to fight in courts, use constitution and amendments to
fight (supreme court should be neutral)
● Fight for education
After WWII:
● Black went to war, more aware unjust conditions
● Many moved to north---ghetto of black communities, poor areas,
extremist movements born
● NAACP more active

❖ Eisenhower (1952):
1954 Brown VS Board:
● Separate schools but equal-- lawyers need demonstrate not equal
● Court: desegregation with all deliberate speed, admit damageful
● South (mississipi, texas, virginia, alabama, arkansas, georgia,
louisiana) protests and not applied
● White Citizens Council (Mississippi first) vs desegregation:
violence (bombing blacks and supporters)

● Black students allowed to enter central highschool
● Whites protest not allow
