Place or state of suffering
inhabited by souls of sinners
who are making amends for
their sins before going to
heaven
Place of purification or
temporary punishment
When the eucharist is
celebrated this is when the
souls in purgatory are purified
and receive full remission of
sin and punishment and go to
heaven
The catholic church states
that all who die in gods grace
and friendship but are
however imperfectly purified
have to go through purgatory
to properly enjoy heaven
