, Introduction:
Throughout the course, in order to complete unit 2, I had to accomplish
numerous research and multiple experiments. Subsequently, I have learnt
and improved a lot of scientific skills, and learnt many new scientific
producers and techniques, that will help me for my further education, as a
clinical scientist, which is primarily based on laboratory practical work,
which I feel more confident to do independently.

Skills obtained from each aim

Aim A:

I knew how to do Titration from school, but I did not know how important it
was to maintain accuracy and calibrate equipment. So for the titration
experiment, I had many transferred skills from school, however, I didn't
know the importance of maintaining accuracy throughout the experiment
and how it can affect the results.

Nevertheless, there were many skills that I needed to develop, such as
weighing to the full gram, where I had to weigh Sodium carbonate powder
using a weighing scale to a certain gram, however, I found it quite difficult
to weigh the exact gram at the beginning, and it needs the patience to
practice it, however, I'm assured now that I can measure the exact
amount I need.

I also developed transferring skills using a weighing boat, where I learned
that after transferring the product to the reaction vessel, I need to rinse it
using distilled water as to not lose some of the samples which can affect
the accuracy of the results, not only the weighing boat but any equipment
used such as funnel, or a stirring rod.

A skill that I never learnt before was calibration, and as such, I've never
calibrated any equipment I used before. I learnt how to calibrate bulb
pipettes, weighing balance, burettes, pH meters, and the colourimetry
machine, which make the results much more accurate. After practising
calibration multiple times, I feel very confident in calibrating those pieces
of equipment now.
