This document contains the notes I took into the Unit 14 IT Service Delivery exam. By no means are they perfect but it helped me achieve a merit within the exam. This exam can be particularly hard if your teacher/lecturer is not good at explaining the unit and overloads you with information. This document will be free for you to use and to get a general idea of what information you will need in the exam. As stated before it is in no way perfect so please add you own notes, DO NOT SOLEY RELY ON IT. I would also recommend watching the revision video on the YouTube channel MyStudentSite as I found it to be very helpful. Good luck in your exams!!!!!

Topologies
● The scenario is placed in a school and the most common topology in a school is ring topology
but the most effective topology that should be used is the star topology.
● All computers will be connected to a hub which is then connected to a server.
● In schools the staff members will have more authority than the students so they will have
more administrative privileges compared to the students.
Extend Network
Star topologies are best suited for a school. In this scenario the school will move more students as
time goes on so the networks must increase too for these students.
Adding more hubs/switches connected to the central hub/switch can extend the network.

Remote access
Each student will have a unique log in for both their google drive and cloud. Students will be able to
access their pupil portal and log in too.

Data legislation
GDPR 2018 (General Data Protection Regulation)
Client information. (Pupil information must be protected by the school. Schools generally keep student
records for around 6 years after students have left.)
Computer Misuse Act 1990
