Unit 4 M1 Part 1:
Introduction:
At Tesco everyone is important in the hierarchical structure for example: there
are so many different departments and each person is in the hierarchical
structure from CEO/Directors down to different employees that work in different
departments. In this case for Tesco there would be staff that will work in the
bakery department non-food trading department, food trading departments and
many more, there will be also supervisors that control certain employees in the
store they are very important because they come under store manager in a
business organisational hierarchy, meaning they are in charge of people who are
regular customer assistance that work in different departments. Supervisor’s
main roles are mainly to give clear instructions to all customer assistants but
also listen and understand the importance of the other employees. Supervisors
In stores such as Tesco have to be more confident and self-assured be cool and
calm but not lose their temper with customers or employees when something
goes wrong in the store and be fair to everyone and avoid favouritism. the Area
managers work on managing the store managers and check what is going on
around the store that why they come in and out the stores within their region will
becomes the director’s job, so the director would have manage his work as the
director and now as the area manager so the director would have to: report to
the chairman, coming up with aims and objectives for the business, coming up
with a way to apply the aims and objectives in the business, making sure that
the stores are doing good and meeting aims and objectives and visiting all the
stores in the theirs areas.
For example a manager at Tesco store manager will do jobs such as making sure
departments are meeting their aims and objectives and they are in charge of
firing and employing staff. Whereas a store manager at lotus will do the same job
and do other jobs like cleaning and filling up the shelves.
similarity difference
they both store managers The managers at lotus does
the handle the money that more jobs because they lotus is
comes into the business not a big enough business to
both managers hire and fire have lots of department plus
people they have less staff members.
they both have the same Tesco sells the same product as
aim, which is to make a lotus plus more
profit Tesco has a manager for each
both private sectors department where as lotus does
not have any department
