P4 – Explain how organisations obtain co-operation of their
employees
Contract of employment: This is made and negotiated between the
employer and the employee.
Contractual Entitlements This lets the employer and employee
know what is expected from one
another. This includes the wages,
holiday pay, sick pay, the hours of work,
disciplinary rules and pension schemes.
Employee and employer This is express and implied terms.
rights Express terms are written in the contract
and implied terms are not written in the
contract because these should already
be known.
Types of employment There are different types of employment
contract contract such as permanent, temporary,
full-time, part-time, casual, fractional,
term time only and self employed.
Disciplinary procedures These are rules that are given to
employees so they are aware of the
consequences if rules are not followed.
Grievance procedures This is when employees have a
complaint against the employer
Union membership This is an organisation that protects
employees’ rights. They will negotiate
with management on the behalf of a
number of employees about issues such
as the pay or treatment.
Codes of behaviour This a set of rules produced by a
company to set out how their employees
should behave when they are at work
and make sure they do their jobs legally
and ethically. This includes personal
relationship, use of email and the
internet.
