In this assignment, I will research McDonalds and examine the many tactics they employ to
conduct business successfully in various regions. I'll also discuss the various resources that
McDonalds uses in order to make international trade possible.

Product adaptation and re-engineering is the process of adapting a product to fit the needs
of customers in markets other than the one in which it was originally designed. This can be
an important part of a company's international sales strategy. Adaptation and innovation are
significant factors involved with the success of many businesses. These businesses develop
a wide range of services and goods to meet the needs of a diverse consumer market, based
on consumer demographics, religion, economic factors, and local conditions. One general
example is how car models are adjusted or altered depending on the country in which they
are sold. Some cars are left-hand drive in nations such as the United States, France, and
Germany, whereas right-hand drive cars are accessible in India, Australia and the UK.

McDonald’s is an American international fast food restaurant founded in 1940 by Richard
and Maurice McDonald.

Apart from considering strategy and the way in which any international businesses desire to
expand, including the time frames involved, another crucial aspect that a business must
consider before deciding on its final expansion strategy is resources. Resourcing has a
significant impact on a company's prospective choices because it is difficult for any
businesses to grow inside its own country, let alone abroad, without sufficient resources.
Expenses and time are two huge factors that affect businesses from product adaptation. In
order for a business to achieve their goals to adapt their products or services; they may
result in spending a lot of money and time for research which will lose the business out on
revenue and advancements. As well as these advantages, there is a lot of time and costs
involved in product adaptation.

One example of this is how McDonald’s have different menus in the countries they operate
in an aim to reflect different tastes and preferences for different customers. Their iconic
menu items such as the Big Mac remain on all menus however specific items like
Philippines’ McSpaghetti, Malaysia’s Cookie and Cream Pie, and Australia’s Chicken Parm
are only specifically available in their own countries.

One advantage of this is how it can boost their brand awareness, and gain them more
customers since they show customers they make an effort to fit their needs and preferences.
Another advantage is that it gains more revenue since customers are more likely to
purchase items that were catered to them. One negative however is that it can cost
McDonald’s extra money to maintain and add new products to their menus across the world
which takes away from their overall revenue. Another negative is that McDonald’s will have
