ACME ADN Program Framework Concepts and Program Outcomes
The mission statement of educational organizations provides a way to communicate the
purpose of the organization, how the organization is committed to the community, and the
standards expected of those who attend the organization (Wilkerson & Evans, 2018). The
mission of the ACME Associate Degree Nursing program is to instill compassion, knowledge,
and professionalism into the next generation of associate degree nurses. Our program is unique
in its approach to upholding the art of nursing through evidence-based practice while
incorporating the latest technology to ensure graduates are prepared for a dynamic healthcare
environment.
A mission statement is only the beginning of creating a nursing program that will mold
students into exceptional nurses. The field of nursing is complex and ever-changing. Nursing
programs need a defined framework and program outcomes to achieve the expressed mission
statement (Dickison et al., 2019). This paper will discuss framework concepts and the
relationship between concepts and program outcomes for the ACME ADN program, along with a
review of how peer collaboration was used in developing the framework concepts and program
outcomes.
Framework Concepts
The framework concepts for the ACME ADN program are based on the nursing
metaparadigm of person, nursing, health, and environment. The concepts of the nursing
metaparadigm have been used as a base for nursing curriculum for nearly 50 years (Bender,
2018). The nursing metaparadigm summarizes holistic care. This section will define each
concept and how it relates to the mission statement of the ACME ADN program.
