Analyse the information in the class summary. What are your learners’ strengths and weaknesses?

After observing the summary sheet statistics, it was evident that:
Strengths
Students are all adults (18+)
The overall current IELTS band of the students is currently averaging at around 5.5
All students reason for taking the IELTS exam indicates they are all dedicated and motivated to achieve their goals to
prosper in their life goals.
Weaknesses
The overall lowest ranging score in is listening and speaking.
All the students nationality are different.
Overall, all students need to improve by a maximum of 1.5 bands to achieve their desired score.

Which two skills have you chosen to teach in this lesson? Why? (Minimum 150 words)
I have decided to teach listening and speaking. This was based on the class summary, which was provided, after adding
together all the total grades of each student and dividing it by the number of students I found these two skills (listening and
speaking) were the skill sets which needed the most improvement, at least for most of the students. As the final overall score
of an IELTS exam is based upon the results of all four different skills collectively it is important we practice those such area
in which the students are the weakest in; otherwise advancing skill set which are already high and disregarding the others
such skill set which are weak can prove to be detrimental for one’s overall band score. At this stage of learning for the
students to only direct the full lesson on one skill would be inappropriate as this would be to much for the students to stay
focused and likewise such a approach is only taken just before the exam date which is not the case. Hence to combine two
skill sets together, which are the weakest overall, will prove to be a resourceful and effected based lesson plan for the
students.
Which lesson topic have you chosen? Why? (Minimum 100 words)
I have selected the topic health and fitness as I feel this is such a topic which every single student, irrespective of their
background of nationality will be able to relative to; likewise, having come across this topic in some way, shape or form in
their life’s.
With us just about coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic which struck globally: Statistics are show a sharp increase in the
number inactive members of various societies to have increase due to having now shifted work from a workplace to a home
office, being afraid to leave one house and so on, I felt this topic is also in relations to the current affair of this day and age,
it would prove to be a topic of great relevance and interest for all the students.
A student has also specified her reason of taking the IELTS as becoming a nurse in the UK so this also would future assist
her needs practically as health is a key factor related to nursing.
