Dairy products

INTRODUCTION
I have been asked to research and also make two sweet add two savoury dishes. The main
ingredient(s) has to contain dairy. I’m basing my dishes on the skills, grades, appearance and the
availability. In order to complete this task i would have to research the different types of dairy
products there is. For example, milk, butter, cheese. However, they’re such things called soya milk
for vegans. The difference between soya milk and cow’s milk is that cow’s milk is from an animal and
soya milk is from a plant. Soy is a good source of low-fat and plant-based protein. It is cholesterol-

,free, has less saturated fat than cow’s milk. In order to successfully finish the task, i will have to
collect as much information on dairy products as possible. After choosing my four dishes i would
have to look into how i can make the dish healthier and also make it suitable for the elderly as well
as young children. After analysing my dishes, i will have to evaluate my task and include the prices of
my ingredients and finish off with a derailed conclusion.

DAIRY PRODUCTS
A dairy product or milk product is food produced from the milk of mammals. Dairy products are
usually high energy-yielding food products. A production plant for the processing of milk is called a
dairy or a dairy factory. The human body needs dairy products because it gives us calcium. Calcium is
a mineral found in many foods. The body needs calcium to maintain strong bones and to carry out
many important functions. Almost all calcium is stored in bones and teeth, where it supports their
structure and hardness. Not only are milk and milk products high in calcium, but the calcium they
provide also has good bioavailability, i.e., it is easily accessible to the body. In contrast, most plant
sources contain lower amounts and/or less bioavailable calcium Vitamin D is essential for overall
health and may also play a key role in the prevention of certain types of cancer, multiple sclerosis,
rheumatoid arthritis and type 1 diabetes. Some studies suggest that adequate protein intake
contributes to bone health. Other scientific data indicates that protein, including that present in
milk, could reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

The importance of dairy products in a diet:

● Help your bones grow stronger

● Could be used as natural treatment for the premenstrual synfrome (PMS)

● Lower the risk of breast cancer
