Examining IT support
Introduction
I am an employee who has been working as an IT technician for a PC repair company
and has been assigned to do a report by my manager on the IT support and
management market to provide outsourced IT support to local businesses and
examine what might be involved when researching about the IT support and
management market.
My report will assess the support and management needs and characteristics for two
different institutions, including their purpose and nature, safe working practises, job
roles, and systems and networks.
The organisations I will be talking about are EC-MSP and Netstar. I will be talking
about how these 2 organisations execute their IT services and how they are
different. For example, the numbers and or skill level might be different. The way
they provide IT support may be different (e.g., one may support in house whilst the
other provides outsourced support.)
In the first part of my report, I will be introducing the companies and talking about
their IT services that they provide and other things such as ergonomics, legalities,
1st, 2nd or 3rd line support and software and hardware services as well. After that I
will be talking about the second part of my report. In the second part of my report, I
will be comparing the two companies of their services such as method of technical
support, diverse types of users, manual handling operations, different job roles,
monitoring tools/software and software used. Then in the final part of my report I
will be evaluating the support for identified IT systems and suggesting improvements
for both companies.
