updated. This is a benefit because it is always getting new security updates, so it ensures that any
possible security flaws will be found and patched as quickly as possible. Another advantage to
Windows 10 is it is universal. A lot of people already use it for commercial or personal use, so it
allows people to use the organisations computers without much or any training. If they used an
older operating system, they could have security issues with their system which would not be
following GDPR guidelines, as the data they keep about people is vulnerable to being stolen.
The choice I made to use cloud computing instead of servers on site was because both staff from
Manchester and Wythenshawe would be able to access the system wirelessly. They would be able to
share files across to each other simply and it’s all organised, so it won’t get lost. Also, if they
experienced damage to the building due to the weather, the system would be alright due to it being
off site. The disadvantage to using cloud computing is it can be accessed across the internet. So, if a
staff members account was breached, hackers could access the system and steal customers
information. To prevent this, they could use a VPN to secure their connection to the servers.
I chose Access as the software to use for their database because it comes in the Office 356 package.
This allows the organisation to have access to lots of collaborative software as well as database
software. They’d be able to pay for one package and get all the software they needed. Plus, when
Microsoft release new software, the organisation would have instant access to it. The problem with
using access as their database is staff would need training on how to use it, which would make the
organisation have to spend money on training for them to be able to use it properly.
I chose AVG as the organisations antivirus because it is very trustworthy. It has a good reputation
and lots of people have had positive interactions with it which adds to its credibility. This software
protects the organisations computers from external threat such as viruses for them to be functioning
properly. If the organisation chose not to use an antivirus program, their system would be left
vulnerable to attacks. The drawback to using an antivirus is that the organisation will have to pay for
a subscription on top of Office 365. This may put them off from getting the full security they need to
work safely.
In conclusion I think my I.T solution is fit for purpose for the organisation. This is because it uses
modern software, secure methods of working and ensures that customer data stays confidential. My
solution delivers the needs of the organisation effectively and efficiently.
