Exploring Leadership Practices in Managing Grade 10 Schools in a VUCA
Context in South Africa
1. Introduction
This methodology explains how the proposed study will investigate leadership
practices used to manage Grade 10 teaching and learning under volatile, uncertain,
complex and ambiguous conditions in selected South African secondary schools.
The earlier assignments established an interpretivist position, a qualitative case
study design and Adaptive Leadership Theory, so the methodology continues that
same research direction instead of introducing a different approach (Chafe, 2024).
The study aims to understand leadership responses to volatility and uncertainty,
decision making during complex teaching and learning situations, and challenges
