Why do we have journals?
- Journals: dissemination of results/findings from research studies (original articles, reviews, case studies, etc)
- Research: the advancement of knowledge within a specific field/expertise/discipline.
Make sure to add keywords to your research (image 4 on top)
What makes a good article:
1. Reputation and longevity - journals/publisher. Also quality of the editorial board. Number of years the journal has been
in existence
2. Impact factor - measure of the number of articles cited by other papers/researchers within the published journal
3. Acceptance rate - those with low acceptance rates are generally considered more prestigious ex. Nature
4. Citations - researchers citing other researchers work in publications or in some cases their own
5. Highly regarded researchers - check how much they have published in a specific area. Sometimes in medical research
they may have only one publication, this can be due to their job specification
