Most Arab countries have increased their interest in renewable power sources.
A good example is wind and solar electricity generation, which offers the highest
levels of technological and market capabilities. The majority of governments have
developed, or are in the process of creating plans to boost investments in this sector.
Bahrain aims to diversify the country’s economy and reduce its dependence on
oil and gas products. Qatar has taken a similar approach, although it has not set a
specific target. The Arab world is taking courageous steps to achieve these objectives
and will play a significant role in the global energy transition.
