werent invaded, nationalism was destroyed
● Economics-army reduced so growing unemployment, had to pay lots of
reparations and instalments

being paid, brought on because germany couldnt pay tov

● Weak government-proportional representation meant they couldnt make proper
decisions+agree on anything, article 48, president could abuse power

● Uprisings by the Right-kapp putsch: dealt with by the workers to go on strike,
army didnt get involved, weakness. Munich putsch: easily stopped, but people
admired hitler
● The Spartacist uprising-army didn't get involved, freikorps had to, showed
government weakness shocked the people
● General unrest-ToV, economic problems and unemployment. Many military
factories closed, lost economic land + reparations: £6.6b

resistance, cooperation w foreign powers, ultimately new currency and

● Stresemann’s international policies (economics)-dawes plan: encouraged loans +
investments, reparations over long period of time, reduced them to 2
billion, .young plan further spread out. Allies had share control of national bank
● Successes abroad- french withdrew from ruhr. Locarno treaty= agreed western
boarders, better relations+ germans admired, demilitarised rhineland, joined
league of nations. Kellogg-briand pact: no war.
