Nature of god
● Omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient, transcendent, imminent “God is love” “the
lord is gracious” “nothing is impossible with god” “god is just”
● He is just, that may explain the existence of evil as he cant take it away
● Evil can also be part of free will and it gives us the opportunity to show our
good+linked to original sin
● Inconsistent triad, we can try to emulate benevolence
God and the Trinity
● The sun allegory; god is the sun, the holy spirit is the rays, jesus is the warmth
● They were all present during creation “the holy spirit hovered over the water” “god
spoke..the word became flesh”
● “The word was with god and the word was god”
Creation
● God created the world in six days and took a break on the seventh “and god said let
there be light” “God created the heavens and the earth”
● “The skies proclaim the work of his hands”
● He created the world perfect “and god said it was good”
● He created man last in the “image of him” + formed eve from adam
● He didn’t need to create the world but did for us
● Liberalists can take it more as an allegory, god helped the big bang, but
conservatives believe the bible word for word , disagreeing with science
Incarnation and Jesus, the son of God
● “The word became flesh”, jesus is fully god and fully human, shown in his miracles
● Immaculate conception: mary was a virgin
● When jesus was baptised a voice from heaven said “you are my son”
● “God so loved the earth, that he gave his one and only son.. shall not perish but have
eternal life”
The crucifixion
● “Forgive them father” Next to other robbers
● Gave christians the chance at salvation and was the ultimate act of forgiveness,
atoning sacrifice + repaired bond
● World goes dark
● Suffered: “my god why have you forsaken me”
● “Surely this man was the son of god”
The resurrection
● “Why do you look for the dead among the living” “he is not here, he has risen”
● Here for 40 days and talks to his disciples, feeds him they touch him, then floats into
clouds, spiritual and bodily resurrection
● Proves life after death and that Christian’s can resurrect
, ● Shows his power and how he is truly god
● “I believe in the resurrection”
The ascension:
● Returns to the father and shows there’s life after death
● He will come back and judge them
● Gives the great commission and sends the holy spirit and shows his power and
how’s he’s god
The afterlife and judgment
● Judgment day will come “like a thief in the night”, never when you expect it
● “He will come to judge the living and the dead” every dead person will be
reawakened and some believe boldly some believe spiritual resurrection
● “My fathers house has many rooms”
● “Separate the righteous from the wicked”
● Parable of the sheep and goats
Heaven and hell

● Heaven is where god is, hell is where god is not
● Hell is sometimes pictured as a fiery demonic place but would a loving god really
subject people to this torture for eternity

● Liturgical-formal and set, gives tradition and a sense of stability as well as being lead
by a priest who knows what he's doing,
● Non-liturgical-no set order, anyone can talk or contribute and lead, in a more modern
way and could be seen as more personal as you can talk about personal experiences
