P2 – DESCRIBE HOW PHYSICAL
SECURITY MEASURES KEEP
SYSTEMS SECURE
BY GEORGE MIZEN

,1. PHYSICAL SECURITY
The act of preventing a security attack is an ever-evolving process. While a system can have t
most advanced and secure anti-virus technology, it can’t stop someone (like a disgruntled
employee who was recently fired) from entering the system’s server room and deleting all of
important data from it, essentially rendering the digital security useless. I will discuss the typ
of physical security that should also be installed to create and manage a truly secure system.

❖Sign In & Out Systems

, 1a. LOCK & KEY SECURITY
On the majority of laptops, there is a small slot located on the side where a padlocked chain
be inserted. This is an example of a lock & key security system, where essential systems are
secured using physical locks and keys.
Buildings can also operate under lock & key; there’ll be a key for each individual door, given t
select list of employees who must register what key they’ve taken and for what room. The
network manager for the building may have a master key that opens all of the server and
communication rooms.
However, a lock & key system means nothing if the environment that’s meant to be secured i
extremely vulnerable. Unauthorised access can be gained through unlocked windows and
unmanned doors, to name a few examples. To conclude, the quality of lock & key security
depends entirely upon the environment it’s supporting. To prevent these issues, windows an
doors should be properly reinforced and alarmed.

Welcome to my page!

Here you can browse three-years worth of work from Pearson's BTEC IT Level 2 and 3 courses! I hope my work provides a useful guideline that can help the students studying the course today progress. Although some of my work is free to download, most of it requires payment. Even if you don't buy anything, leaving a review would help me out greatly and be most appreciated! Thanks in advance :)
