graphical tool used in Six Sigma and quality management to translate high-
level customer needs and requirements into specific, measurable, and
actionable characteristics or metrics that are critical for meeting those
customer needs.
Quality function deployment (QFD)
Give this one a try later!
, is a structured methodology used in product and process design to ensure
that customer needs and requirements are systematically integrated into
the design and development processes.t helps organizations translate
customer needs into specific product or process characteristics, ensuring
that what is delivered aligns with customer expectations.

easures at this stage are typically the general metrics that define overall
process performance, and which may have flagged the need to do the
project in the first place. Many of the more granular measures will be
collected during the Measure Phase.
Mapping the current state of a process serves some important purposes:
Give this one a try later!
1- Establishes baseline performance information
2-Allows the process to be visualized
3-Displays the differences between what you think is happening and what
is actually happening
, 4-Sets the foundation for revisions to demonstrate what should be
happening

Components of FMEA:
Give this one a try later!
, Failure Mode: A failure mode is a specific way in which a process, product,
or system can fail to perform its intended function. It describes what could
go wrong.
Effect: The effect represents the consequence or impact of a failure mode
on the overall system, process, or end-user. Effects can range from minor
inconveniences to severe safety hazards.
Severity (S): Severity is a rating that quantifies the seriousness of the
potential effect of a failure mode. It is typically scored on a scale from 1
(minor impact) to 10 (catastrophic impact).
Probability of Occurrence (O): This rating assesses the likelihood or
probability of a failure mode occurring. It is also typically scored on a scale
from 1 (rare) to 10 (almost certain).
Detectability (D): Detectability assesses how easily or quickly a failure
mode can be detected before it reaches the end-user or causes significant
harm. It is scored on a scale from 1 (very easily detected) to 10 (very difficult
to detect).
Risk Priority Number (RPN): The Risk Priority Number is calculated by
multiplying the severity, probability of occurrence, and detectability ratings
(RPN = S x O x D). It is used to prioritize failure modes based on their
potential risk.
Steps in FMEA:
Select the Process or System: Determine the specific process, product, or
system that will be the focus of the FMEA analysis.
Assemble a Cross-Functional Team: Create a team of individuals with
diverse expertise relevant to the process or system being analyzed. This
often includes engineers, quality experts, operators, and other
stakeholders.
Identify Failure Modes: Brainstorm and list all potential failure modes for
the selected process or system. Consider what could go wrong at each
step or component.
Determine Effects and Severity: For each failure mode, determine its
effects or consequences. Assign a severity rating to each effect.
Evaluate Probability of Occurrence: Assess the likelihood of each failure
mode occurring and assign a probability of occurrence rating.
Evaluate Detectability: Evaluate how easily each failure mode can be
detected before it causes harm or reaches the end-user. Assign a
detectability rating.
Calculate Risk Priority Number (RPN): Calculate the RPN for each failure
mode by m
