Unit 3, Assignment 3

Risk Assessments - It is important to have these in place, so that the staff know the hazards
that are liable to injure themselves. Before the session begins at 6, go out and check pitch at
5. Check for any holes in the ground that could cause people to twist their ankles. This is
assessing safety collecting information which may threaten the children's condition. Note
down any risks and try to minimise the chance of the risk or eliminate it. This then will protect
the children from ant harm. If you have noticed a potential hazard make the children aware
before the session so they can try avoid the risk or even move the session away from the
risk to prevent any injuries.

Safety considerations for the session - Make sure all players are wearing correct footwear
before the session starts. Complete a thorough warm up and cool down to reduce the risk of
muscle strains. It is important that the warm up is long enough as their muscle and blood
temperature needs increasing so that it will increase their range of motion. If it's a hot day,
recommend players to wear suncream. Before the session I checked all the equipment to
make sure it was all safe and maintained so that it causes no damage to the children.

For the future, to make the session even safer I should prepare an emergency action plan.
This is in case any accidents happen and in advance of the session if anything goes wrong I
can perform the action plan understanding what it is I need to do. In addition to this having
contact details of all the children's parents would be useful in case any emergencies do
happen.
