Task 1
Methods Provide a Description.
1. Induction Training This is a form of introduction for new employees. It
enables them to do their work in a new job role or
profession. Training can be either systematic or
unsystematic.
2. Performance Appraisal This is also referred to as a performance review,
performance evaluation, development discussion, or
employee appraisal. It is a method by which the jib
performance of an employee is assessed,
documented and evaluated.
3. On-the-job training This is when the employee is trained at the place of
work whilst they are doing the actual job. Usually a
professional trainer or sometimes and experienced
employee serves as an instructor using hands on
training which is often supported by formal tutorials
and written documents that the employee must
read.
4. Coaching This is a form of development in which a coach
supports a learner in achieving a specific personal or
professional goal by providing training or guidance.
5. Mentoring Mentorship is a type of relationship; in which a more
experienced or knowledgeable person helps guide a
less experienced or knowledgeable person. The
mentor can be older or younger than the person
being mentored, but the mentor must have a certain
area and level of expertise.
6. Shadowing This is an educational program where an individual
can learn about an occupation or profession to see if
it may be suitable for them. With shadowing a
business often partners with an educational
establishment to provide an experience for students
of what it is like to work in a certain role, area or
profession. A business often has the individual
accompany an experienced worker while performing
a targeted job.
7. Graduate Training Programmes This is a scheme which is an excellent way to jump
start a career. Depending on the employer it can be
in many formats. This usually allows graduates to
experience many aspects of both the role and the
organisation.
8. Management Training This is a training activity that focuses on improving
an individual’s skills as a leader and manager. There
can be an emphasis on skills such as communication
and empathy which will enable better teamwork and
progressive relationships.
