Hot temperatures in summer and also warm temperatures in winter which ensure that
it no longer snows – one situation everybody knows and one serious problem
everybody should talk and think about: global warming.
The text: “Australia´s heatwaves” exactly shows the consequences of global
warming, especially in Australia. It clearly shows what impact global warming has on
us, for example heart attacks or blackouts. And on the nature: droughts or bushfires.
Then, it explains the correlation between heatwaves and climate change and
determines that the rising temperatures are a signal of climate change.
The quote ´What does this mean for people? A litany of issues…´ wants to say
exactly that. Global warming does not only concern animals or the nature. It also has
many impacts on us! Whether it´s health, life or lifestyle related.
In the following I want to outline these negative and possible beneficial effects of
global warming.
As the text mentions, through global warming there are more and more droughts.
To start with it is important to say that the greenhouse effect is the important process
that makes life on earth possible, because the greenhouse gases reflect the solar
energy back to earth. Burning fossil fuels, for example coal, natural gas and oil,
produces excessive emissions of greenhouse gases. These released gases cause a
temperature rise on the earth´s surface. We call it global warming. And through that
temperature rise there are more droughts. As a result there isn´t so much farmland
anymore, for food production for example. This is because the areas, where food is
grown, are unusable or too dry. As we can see in the end it has many impacts on us
because we can´t live in droughts.
When we think about the greenhouse effect and the temperature rise we see that
there is also flooding. Because of the hot and still rising temperatures the icebergs for
example melt leading to an increase in sea levels. At some point it is so high, that it
makes some areas unusable because of flooding. So if you live near the sea, for
example, and then it comes to a flood, you will never live in your house or on your
area again. So you have to search for something new. The same problem have
animals who live there.
