Smart city solutions for the city of tomorrow
As of the 21st century, more than half of the world's population lives in urban areas. Cities have become a
significant part of the international economy, attracting people from far and wide. Every 16 months, a city's
population crosses the ten million threshold, turning it into a mega-city. The enormous scale of these cities puts
immense pressure on infrastructure, waste management and housing affordability. Urbanization, as a result,
creates challenges for a more livable urban environment. A smart city is a solution that can effectively leverage
technology and out-of-the-box thinking to tackle these challenges and achieve a more habitable environment.
