3. If you are alone with the infant - Tap the heel of their foot and talk loudly at the infant to see
at the scene, do the following: if they are responsive
- Check if they are breathing while checking for the infant's
brachial pulse for 5 seconds no more than 10 seconds
- If the infant doesn't respond and isn't breathing, yell for
help
- If someone responds, send the second rescuer to call
911/EMS and get an AED
- If you cannot feel a pulse, begin CPR by doing 15 compres-
sions and 2 breaths
- If you feel a pulse less that 60 beats per minute begin CPR




4. To perform CPR on a infant, do - Be sure infant is face-up on a hard surface
the following: - Using two fingers, perform compressions in the center of the
infant's chest; don't press on the end of the sternum as it can
cause injury
- Compression depth should be about 1.5 inches and 100-120
compressions per minute
- Perform CPR for 2 minutes
- If help has not arrived yet, call 911 and retrieve an AED
- Use and follow the AED prompts while continuing CPR until
EMS arrives or until the infant normalizes
