Introduction
The lesson is about educating patients, family and staff on HIV/AIDS. The focus will be
on how the patients can deal with stigmatization and care for themselves. The lesson also focuses
on informing the family members and relatives about how they can care for their loved ones with
HIV and provide them with facts about the disease to eliminate some myths circulating in
society. The lesson also involves educating the staff on how to communicate with patients with
HIV and what information they should not lack or forget to inform them about. The staff needs
to be well informed on this as patients may ask them questions that need to be answered. The
educational setting for the patients will be in community centres and hospitals, the families will
be in community centres, and the staff development will be in the hospitals. The staff will be
educated within the facilities they are working on.
Purpose/ Rationale for the Lesson

medical practitioners and the community on HIV /AIDS. However, I mainly chose to teach about
this topic because I noticed society's lack of educational awareness of the disease. According to
Fact (n.d.), more people in the community contract the condition each year, with some initially
thinking there was a cure for the disease. Secondly, I chose this topic because I wanted to impact
the lives of people with HIV /AIDS directly. In recent years, the lives of people with HIV have
improved due to medicinal treatment provision. However, continued education on pursuing a
higher quality of life, such as through the adoption of exercise and a regular balanced diet, will
enable them to improve their quality of life over time. Lastly, I also recognized the
discrimination and stigma that occurs in society due to a case of HIV/AIDS. Stigma, on many
