Unit 7:
GRAMMAR
Text References are words used to avoid repeating words and phrases when it is already clear what
we are talking about. Always read the previous sentence, then you can find that the words are
referring to.
The former: reference to the first thing in the previous sentence.
The latter: reference to the next reference after the former, zo ‘’eerst volgende groep’’.
We sometimes use ‘’it’’ as an empty subject with no real meaning. It reference to nothing.

2. Prefixes
A prefix is a word of letter, placed at the beginning of another word to adjust or qualify its usage or
meaning.
