Listening - General Information
• You will hear people talk, you must answer questions about the conversation.
• You will hear each extract twice. You will have time to read the questions before the audio.
• Remember, you will have 40 minutes and it will count for 20% of your final mark.
• In total there are 30 questions, divided into 4 parts:
• Part 1 (Multiple choice) contains 6 questions. You will hear three short extracts and have to
answer two multiple-questions on each extract. Each questions has option A, B and C.
• Part 2 (Sentence completion) contains 8 questions. You will hear a recording and have to write
a word or short phrase to complete sentences.
• Part 3 (Multiple choice) contains 6 questions. You will hear a recording and have to answer
multiple-choice questions with three/four options each. Tip: Read the first question first and
the answers to it quickly. Underline key words in the answers quickly! Then do the same
with the second question and its answers, the third one, etc.
• Part 4 (Multiple matching) contains 10 questions. You will hear five short extracts. There will be
two separate tasks (task 1-5 and task 6-10), each task containing 1 question per extract. So, in
total you’ll have to answer 2 questions for every extract. For each question you’ll have to
choose a correct answer from a list.
Listening - Tips
• You will get a “D” or “F” quite quickly, so focus really well.
• Make notes during the exam on an external piece of paper if this helps you.
• If you can’t hear the recording, raise your hand immediately.
• If the recording is playing and you haven’t read the question yet, listen to the recording, it’s
more important.
