10 November 1775 by a resolution of the Continental Congress, which
"raised two battalions of Marines." at the Tun Tavern in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. In 1834, The Marines came under the Department of the
Navy. The National Security Act of 1947, amended in 1952, states the present
structure.
First Aid: Burns

- After the victim has been removed from the source of the thermal injury,
first aid should be kept to a minimum.
- DO NOT remove clothing adhering to the wound.
- For burns over 20% BSA, treat with IV Ringer's Lactate.
- Relieve mild pain with aspirin, Severe pain may be relieved with morphine
or demerol injections.
- Monitor urine output.
- All major burn victims should be given a booster dose of tetanus toxoid
to guard against infection.

- The MEB is a MAGTF built around a reinforced infantry regiment, an
aircraft group, and a Combat Logistics Regiment (FWD).
- A brigadier General normally commands the MEB.
- It is capable of rapid deployment and employment via amphibious
shipping, strategic airlift, marrying with Maritime prepositioned Force
(MPF) assets, or any combination thereof.

, - Sunstroke is more accurately called heat stroke since it is not necessary to
be exposed to the sun for this condition to develop.
- 20% Mortality Rate
- Extremely high body temperature (105°F, 41°C or higher)
- True life-and-death emergency
- Pupils will be constricted and pulse fast and strong.
- Active cooling
- Do not give any hot drinks or stimulants
- Discontinue cooling when rectal temperature reaches 102°F and monitor
every 10 minutes.
- Transport ASAP
- Effective fluid and electrolyte replacement to combat shock.

-Japanese Commander proclaimed that it would take 1 million Americans
100 years to conquer.
-on 20 November 1943, Marines landed and secured the island within 76
hours.
-Many Marines drowned while attempting to wade ashore due to being
offloaded hundreds of yards from the beach because of an extended reef.
