, RATIONALE
Investigation Title: THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF CAFFEINE ON THE HEART RATE O
DAPHNIA.
I chose to investigate the different concentrations of caffeine on the heart rate because I wanted to se
how it impacts the human heart when the concentration of caffeine is increased. Does the heartbeat sta
consist, drop, or increase? I hope to find out that with an increase of concentration given to the daphni
the rate of the heartbeat should also increase.
As a student carrying out this investigation, I would like to approve the validity and would like to know how
much caffeine is approximately consumed in a day on average for consumers to get a ‘adrenaline rush’ an
a boost of energy to go about their daily tasks.
I will be carrying out the investigation on water fleas called Daphnia; these are small transparent flea
which are known as substitutes of humans, this will be easy to measure as we will be able to see the hear
beating. The different substances used will allow us to see a similar effect in oppose to the human heart.
