Marxist approach to inequality
- Conflict perspective-sees social world as divided between very wealthy and the
rest-society structured for benefit of richest people
- Traditional Marxists- inequality have been typical of all societies- one group has
always owned and controlled the resources needed for survival and the other
groups own little or nothing and so they are required to work for the wealthy
- Marxism suggests that inequality is part of structural relationship of all societies
- Ability to control production of wealth means that those who have the wealth also
have the power to control society in their own interest
