To introduce students to first conditional tense and practice speaking
for discussion of probable future events.
Lesson Type: Grammar Lesson Aims: To contrast the use of present simple and future simple in basic
sentences.
• Students will learn and demonstrate understanding
knowledge of the first conditional through context in the
presentation.
A2 (Late elementary/
• Students will practice speaking and writing in the first

• Solution: Spend more time explaining the key points of the first
conditional, and focus heavily on making sure students
understand the present simple/future simple patterning, as
well as the difference in probability.
• Students might find the class boring or frustrating, and may
not want to pay attention.
• Solution: Make class interactive with many activities and
speaking tasks.
• Using present simple and future simple in the same sentence
could be a source of initial confusion for the students.
• Solution: Use graphic timeline provided in bibliography to
explain clearly.
