He is a manager in his division but reports to Ms Mondays, the Gauteng provincial manager, with whom he had a romantic relationship. Piet lost interest in their affair in March 2025 on the arrival of Ms Vitamin, a newly appointed clerk, with whom he engaged in a romantic relationship. In terms of section 23 of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 (the BCEA), the central question for determination in the instant matter is whether the letters issued by Gogo M'lungisi, a registered traditional healer, constitute valid medical certificates for purposes of justifying an employee's absence from work. Both Ms Vitamin and Half-Suiker Sak (Pty) Ltd (HSS) require advice on the legal position regarding the validity and lawfulness of traditional healer certificates in the employment
