WGU D339 TASK 1 VERIFIED AND ACCURATE | 2026 UPDATE
D339 Task 1
Section A: Blog Post
Here at Ernest & Eric’s, as the service desk we strive to provide the best support
possible. With that comes the protection of the entire company by implementing
various security measures. Currently, all technicians are given a separate account that
consists of randomized letters and numbers. Your account grants admin level access
to all devices in the network in order facilitate troubleshooting, repairs, and all other
functions related to their jobs. In order to further secure and protect Ernest & Eric’s, we
will be implementing the 2fa (or 2 factor authentication) with the use of Duo Mobile on
these admin accounts for both in-person and remote access logins. While it is an
additional step that will add time (a few seconds) to the login process, accounts with
this elevated access will be required to use Cisco Duo because as we know passwords
alone are not as secure as people believe, anyone could be trying to figure out a
password, and this additional step will protect the company by keeping admin accounts
secure and protect our data.
Cisco’s Duo Mobile is a simple application that runs on your phone that will
“implement zero-trust approach to protect all applications by validating users and
devices” (Cisco, 2022). IBM explains the zero-trust model as a “security model verifies
and authorizes every connection, such as when a user connects to an application or
software to a data set via an application programming interface.” (IBM, n.d.)
The setup of this application is very simple, you just need to (1) download the
app and (2) click the link sent to you by the company Duo admin and follow any
prompts on your device. The use of this app should not require additional training but
will be made available to anyone that may need it. After you complete the setup, you
can continue logging in as normal with the addition of this one simple step.
Once you login for the first time using your administrative credentials with Duo
active, you will receive a push notification on your personal device asking you to
approve or deny access. Below is an example of what your screen may say once you
receive the push notification:
