A.
1. Adrian is a 13-year-old caucasian boy in middle school, soon to be
in high school. Adrian’s parents are separated, and he lives with his mother
who works full-time in conjunction with parenting. The household income
puts Adrian’s family near the poverty line which creates additional hurdles.
Adrian enjoys school and video games, and he usually performs well in
school, so his mother doesn’t have to worry about his grades. Although
Adrian is relatively independent, he struggles with boredom and time
management due partly to his ADHD diagnosis.
2. One of the largest contextual influences in Adrian’s life is his
family’s socio-economic status. Income and class can have a huge impact on

may not have the crispest new clothes, and they may have been thrifted,
which may affect how others view him. Despite these challenges, Adrian’s

Extracurricular activities may not be an option for Adrian since they can be
cost prohibitive and as the day progresses, Adrian’s attention wanes making
engagement difficult.

single parent household. Adrian’s mother, although a great parent, does not
have the ideal time that Adrian needs for a role model. Adrian is told things
and not shown since there just isn’t enough time for his mother to spend
with him. His mother is affectionate, assuring, and tends to parent passively
since she is tired from work. The parenting style and quality affects Adrian’s
