Reflecting on my four goals and objectives for the 6665-practicum experience
While reflecting on my 6665-practicum experience, I would like to restate my 4 goals: To
improve psychiatric assessment and diagnosis, refine therapeutic communication through role-
playing, enhance psychotropic medication selection, and conduct thorough psychiatric interviews
all with preceptor guidance over 10 weeks. I achieved over 90% of each goal but recognized the
need for further growth, especially in communication and medication management. As advanced
nursing is a lifelong journey, ongoing development is essential to stay current with research and
innovations.
What I Learnt From Practicum Experience
The 6665 Advanced Nursing Practicum offers hands-on training in psychiatric evaluation,
diagnosis, and treatment, while enhancing my clinical judgment, communication, and evidence-
based practice under preceptor supervision.
What Resources are Available?
Walden Nursing Faculty provides weekly materials, which include journals, peer-reviewed
articles, and evidence-based resources to enhance clinical skills. The PMHNP Clinical Skills List
guides practicum work, while SMART Goals resources help set clear objectives. Reviewing
nursing competencies and theory further supports clinical practice. The Walden Library offers
key databases like EBSCO, PubMed, and Medline for research, complemented by faculty-
selected textbooks and readings that deepen understanding of nursing diagnoses.
