In general terms, what must be on a price list? - Answer -Every licensed supply and
service that the operator generally provides
Besides the price for each item, what other details must a price list include for each
supply and service? - Answer -(1) a description that makes it easy to identify and if a
supply the size, colour, material, brand name and any model number and name; (2)
whether the price includes taxes or if they are in addition; (3) if the supply is available
for rent; (4) whether the price is a fixed or per unit charge; (5) if there is a minimum
charge for the specific supply or service
In addition to the details regarding each supply and service, what must also appear on
every price list (important for record keeping)? - Answer -The effective date. Price lists
must always be current.
I went to XYZ Funeral Home today to pick up a price list. I noticed there was an
effective date, each item had all the legislated details, and the name of the funeral home
and the phone number and website were at the top. Is XYZ's price list compliant? -
Answer -No. The price list must include 4 items to adequately identify the operator at
the top. (1) The operator(s) name (2) The operator's business name if different from the
operator's name (3) the address and phone number of the business location to which
the business relates (4) The position, address, and phone number of the person in
charge of day to day operations to which thye price list relates
If a funeral home sells any of their licensed supplies and services as a package, what
must they ensure appears on each price list? - Answer -the details of those packages
and whether or not the package is available at a discount; the price of the package; the
price at which each supply and service would be sold if it were sold separately
For both funeral and transfer services, what (3) items must appear on a price list for
professional and staff services - Answer -(1) Co-ordinating rites and ceremonies (2)
securing and completing any permits, forms, certificates, notices or other documents (3)
any other professional or staff services related to funeral or transfer services

location to a requested location; use of any type of vehicle; and additional staff or

listed separately on the price list? - Answer -yes
If a funeral home offers any other licensed supplies and services other than those
specifically identified in the Regulation, do those items need to be listed separately on a
price list? - Answer -Yes
There are specific requirements for price lists with regard to merchandise, namely
caskets, urns and vaults. What are they? - Answer -The price list must include prices
for caskets, urns and outer burial containers, vaults or grave liners AND any other
licensed supply or service related to those items.
XYZ Funeral Home has this awesome copper casket on thier price list and my husband
wants to be cremated in it? Why might I have the idea this would be okay? - Answer -
Likely because XYZ's price list doesn't indicate that the copper casket isn't suitable for
cremation. Regulation requires that all price lists indicate whether a casket is suitable
for cremation
Regarding funding, payment and financing options, all price lists must include these two
basic items - Answer -A description of the funding, payment and financing options AND
a statement that additional information is available on request
I went to ABC Funeral Home this morning and asked for the price list and they refused
to give it to me. Is this legal? - Answer -No. Every operator must provide a copy of the
price list to anyone who asks for one, without charge.
Shake and Bake Funeral Home has 3 locations in my area and all are Class 1 FE's. I
saw in the entrance of each location a sign that said a price list was available at no
charge on request. Should they have the price lists right there for me to pick up? -
Answer -They could, but the sign is legal and compliant with the Regulations. An
operator is required to either have the price list easily accessible from the front entrance
of each location OR a sign indicating a price list will be provided upon request.
