attachment?
Attachment – A strong emotional bond
between two people which endures over
time. It is reciprocal as it is a two-way
process.

, Caregiver-infant Explanation:

Reciprocity Interaction flows both ways between the caregiver and the infant. It involves
turn taking and is a two-way process. The actions or signals of the mother or
infant elicits a response from the other. E.g. mother pulls a face and the baby
laughs.
Interactional synchrony The caregiver and the infant share a joint focus, mirror each others movements
and expressions and interact with each other in a way that is in time with each
other. This means that their facial expressions or movements are co-ordinated
and show the same pattern. Interactional synchrony can be likened to a ‘dance’
between the caregiver and the infant. E.g. mother and infant smile and move
their heads in time with each other.
Imitation The caregiver or the infant will imitate, mimic or copy the other’s facial
expressions or bodily movements. E.g. the mother claps and the infant claps
back.
