1.1 Inclusive pedagogy and three key principles.
Inclusive pedagogy is an approach to teaching and learning that recognises diversity
among learners and aims to address the individual needs of all students in a shared
learning environment. Rather than focusing on categorising or labelling learners,
inclusive pedagogy promotes practices that benefit everyone, including those who
experience barriers to learning.
Three key principles of inclusive pedagogy:
1. Valuing learner diversity: Every learner is seen as unique and capable, and
differences are respected and used as strengths in the classroom.
2. Supporting all learners: Teaching is adapted to support the learning of all
students, rather than creating separate or parallel systems for certain learners.
3. Working collaboratively: Teachers work with colleagues, families, and
communities to create supportive learning environments that reflect collective
responsibility.
