, Individuals possess distinct personalities consisting of an intricate amalgamation of several
qualities. Personality qualities influence individuals' perception and interaction with their
surroundings, as well as their self-perception. Optimally, individuals possess personality features
that enable them to adapt flexibly to their evolving surroundings, resulting in improved
interpersonal connections and more effective coping mechanisms. Individuals with maladaptive
personality qualities often experience inflexibility and resort to poor coping mechanisms. For
instance, individuals may cope with stress by consuming alcohol or engaging in substance abuse,
struggle with anger management, and experience difficulty in establishing trust and forming
meaningful relationships (Molen, Ronis & Benoit, 2023). Individuals diagnosed with personality
disorders exhibit a deficiency in recognizing the repercussions of their conduct and often exhibit
apathy or attribute the misery produced by their acts and interactions to others. The diagnosis of
personality disorder is difficult because of the diverse and inconsistent ways in which it might
manifest. In general, the specific diagnostic criteria for personality disorders are quite similar in
both the ICD-10 and DSM-IV. However, they distinguish between Axis II, which includes
personality disorders, and Axis I, which includes mental state disorders.
The personality disorder I have selected for the present article is Antisocial Personality
Disorder (ASPD) type B (Borderline type). Borderline personality disorder is characterized as a
heterogeneous condition and is categorized into four types: impulsive borderline personality
disorder, discouraged borderline personality disorder, self-destructive borderline personality
disorder, and petulant borderline personality disorder (Mishra, Rawekar & Sapkale, 2023).
