TEACHER LANGUAGE
This part of the assignment is set to enable us to assess your language grading and concept checking.
You must use direct speech, e.g.'OK everyone, listen very carefully because I'm going to tell you what to do next.
On the wall there are pictures of 12 animals. On these orange cards (hold up a card) are the names of the
animals. I'll give everyone a card with some blu-tack (show back of card with a blob of blu-tack). Take your card
and stick it to the correct animal picture. Juan, what are you going to do with your orange card?'
You might need to put in some predicted student responses for the vocabulary teaching part.
N.B. If you do not use direct speech, you will be required to resubmit the whole assignment.
Give word for word the language you could use for:
A) Presenting 3 of your selected vocabulary items which would need to be concept checked,
Show how you would elicit, explain and concept check each of the three items.
OK everyone, listen very carefully. Now we are going to look some new vocabulary items that you might not
know yet. Learning this words now will help you to understand the reading part text. I will give you a definition
or I can show you a picture of the word.
Vocabulary 1: Convoy
Teacher: (Holding a picture of a convoy in the air) Do you guys know what is this?
Students: A lot of cars / a road / the traffic
Teacher: But this amount of cars looks so similar right?
Students: Yes!
Teacher: Maybe they are going together somewhere, do you know any word to describe this situation?
Students: No
Teacher: They are working together and they are going to the same place… Well, this is what we call a
‘’convoy’’. Repeat after me please CONVOY (louder)
Students: CONVOY
Teacher: Once more please!
Students: CONVOY
Teacher: That’s perfect. Even if they are not the same type of vehicle We consider that it’s a convoy. There
are many other examples of convoys as trucks or motorbikes. Can you try to use this word into a normal
sentence?
Students A: Wow! Can you see that convoy travelling towards the river? I think the president is in London
today!
Teacher: Well done Student A!
