SW3702 ASSIGNMENT 02
QUESTION 1
Case Overview:
Lethabo, a 15-year-old Grade 10 learner, is exhibiting aggressive
and disruptive behaviour at school. She has strong ties to a
gangster and is using this to intimidate teachers. The
Department of Basic Education referred her case to a social
worker for group intervention.
1.1 Explain the recruitment method used in the above
scenario. Motivate your answer. (3 marks)
The recruitment method used is referral-based recruitment.
This method occurs when individuals are referred by
professionals, institutions, or authorities who identify a need
for intervention. In this case, Lethabo was referred to the social
worker by the Department of Basic Education after failed
interventions by school and circuit officials. This method is
appropriate as it targets youth with identified behavioural
concerns who require psychosocial intervention.
