Introduction
Walmart is a great and influential company that, as of today, is still operating in the
United States. They are also operating in other countries such as Mexico and Canada. The
company has announced its intent to enter the Brazilian market with some stores. If this were to
happen, the company would be competing with companies like Carrefour (a Brazilian
supermarket chain). Walmart's entry strategy in Brazil has to be quite different from its current
presence in Latin (Hunt et al., 2018). The Brazilian market is far different from the North
American grocery market, as the living standards in Brazil are different and present obstacles to
establishing certain business models (such as the store format). Based on this analysis, focusing
on small, medium, and regional cities will be a good strategy for Walmart to implement in
Brazil. This focus would allow Walmart to remain competitive against regional companies such
as Carrefour.
Market entry strategy
Walmart should focus its entry into Brazil on new stores instead of reconfiguring existing
ones to meet the company's needs. As such, the company should select several Brazilian cities
and develop a strategy for each of them. These strategies will include not just the store format
but also its size, quality, and other aspects that can be improved using a different format (Hunt et
al., 2018). If Walmart implemented this strategy, the analysis shows that adjusting its store
formats based on local conditions would lead to greater results than a conventional approach (a
single approach). Walmart should avoid the competition of large buyers with their stores, kiosks,
and websites. The size of Walmart will allow it to enter new markets with many customers.
However, these customers are more likely to visit competitors such as Walmart, Carrefour, and
Jumbo. As such, Walmart should also consider entering smaller cities to reduce the impact of
