Describe the various roles and responsibilities of security professionals - ✔✔Patrolling: observe and report suspicious,
questionable, weird behaviour in a many areas (premises/grounds)

Patrolling is one of the most prevalent areas of activity for uniformed security professionals. It includes both the patrol
of the interior of offices and industrialbuildings and the maintenance of external perimeter security. It should be
emphasized that this aspect of security work has a dual purpose. Firstly, the presence of a uniform security officer is to
promote feelings of safety to the employees and occupiers of a client site, and to deter criminal and other forms of
unwanted activity. The second purpose of the uniform security officer is to detect and report criminal activity and to
deal with any other incident that may occur within the area of their responsibility

Alarm Systems: Monitoring alarm systems and responding when needed. Most commercial buildings will have some
form of alarm system. These can range from fairly simple systems, to quite complex ones with door and window sensors,
motion and glass break detectors, smoking and flood detectors, and may even have closed circuit TV systems. As part of
their regular duties security professionals may monitor the systems and respond to any activations.

Access Control: Limiting access to individuals/locations

Security professionals are often employed in large office complexes where they are required to control access to the
building or site. Thisusually entails checking that persons entering the building have the relevantdocumentation to do
so, and where that is not the case to direct persons toreception to sign in and obtain visitors passes.

Observing and reporting criminal activity or signs of crimes and suspicious behaviour. The primary duty of uniformed
