Eastern Mediterranean

Pastoral Nomad A pastoral nomad is a person who moves
seasonally or periodically to find grazing land
for their livestock, and someone who depends
on their animals for their lifestyle. Pastoral
nomads may also hunt, gather, practice some
agriculture, or trade with others.
Monotheism Monotheism refers to a certain category of
religious belief. The people who are
monotheistic believe that there is only one
god or higher power.
Phoenicians Phoenician refers to a person who inhabited
one of the city-states of ancient Phoenicia,
such as Byblos, Sidon, Tyre, or Beirut, or one
of their colonies. These city-states inhabit
what is modern day lebanon and the
mediterranean coast.
Israelites An israelite refers to anyone who has
originated in one of the 12 israel tribes. These
tribes existed in what is known in modern day
as israel, jordan and syria.
King David (Israel) He was the second king of israel he would
expand and would help the israeli kingdom
expand he brought the coastal region into
israel’s control.

The advancement of agriculture would be the end of nomadic societies and the begining of a
civilized society. With the development of agriculture people had more of a reason to become
stationary and remain in one place.
Nomadic people would facilitate trade and be the reason for the spreead of technologies.
They would carry the knowledge of new technlologies and goods this would help these goods
and technlologies spread across large areas. This would eventually lead to cultural diffusion
where new inventions, goods and cultures would spread to far away places.

particular set of rules and beliefs. Usually having one ruler of

the region of mesopotamia including the city of akkad. The
sargon was the first to unite and bring mesopotamia under his
rule. He was the first ruler of unified mesopotamia.
