Active Aggressor - Answer-A subject who attempts to harm or attack the officer
Serious physical injury - Answer-Actual physical injury to the body that results in:
unconsciousness, protracted and obvious disfigurement; or protracted loss or
impairment of the function of a bodily member, organ, or mental faculty.
OC Spray - Answer-Oleoresin Capsicum, must contain no greater than 10% and no less
than 5% OC concentration. OC spray shall not exceed 0.2% capsacinoids. It shall have
a water based carrier, be non-flammable, non-toxic, and produce a straight stream
delivery (not fog).
The OC spray canister shall be approximately 3oz. net weight, with thumb activation
and a safety mechanism.
BISS (BASIC INITIAL SAFETY SWEEP) - Answer-A quick and limited protective sweep
of a vessel for boarding team safety.
EISS (EXTENDED INITIAL SAFETY SWEEP) - Answer-A more focused protective
sweep of a vessel restricted to these spaces where potential hazards are likely to exist.
Must have reasonable suspicion.

Frisk search - Answer-A frisk search is the crushing and passing of hands over the
outer clothing of a person in search of weapons, when the officer suspects an individual
may have a weapon that poses a threat to the boarding team or others.
SIA (SEARCH INCIDENT TO ARREST) - Answer-Is a detailed "crush and feel" search
of an arrested individual's person and thorough search of outer clothing. An SIA, while
not a strip search, is more intrusive than a frisk search.
