a. How do we test for visual acuity?
· Snellen chart—tests for sharpest visual acuity
· 20/20 means?
o YOU can see things at 20 ft, that the average person can see at 20 feet
· 20/40?
o YOU can see things at 20 ft, that the AVERAGE person sees at 40 feet (near-sighted, can't see far)
b. What visual test do we use in patients over the age of 40?
· Jaeger Chart
o Tests for Presbyopia (acuity for close vision)
c. Patient with a corneal abrasion, what exam do you expect the doctor will use to evaluate the patient.
· Slit Lamp test
o Flashes light into eyesà ulceration, corneal abrasion
